INVITATION TO SUBMIT YOUR PROJECT
The Age of the Dragon has returned, and with it, the third Game Art Collection has arrived!
Original 2D and 3D game art projects from Greek and foreign artists, will be presented at an international exhibition for game industry and IT professionals, game lovers, academics, students.
GAC’s third edition will be presented during the second Athens Games Festival (AGF), the annual game convention organized by the Secretariat General for Media and Communication that will take place on 20-21st October 2018 at the Helexpo exhibition centre.
This year’s exhibition is co-organized by SAE Creative Media College, member of the SAE Creative Media Institute.

Theme
This year’s theme is dungeons, medieval castles and of course, all the mythical creatures that inhabit them. Find your inspiration in classic games like Diablo, Path of Exile, Baldur’s Gate or Arcana, and create your own game environment and characters for a world beyond fantasy.

Requirements
Submission entries should be original and unpublished works (not published in any media including magazines, newspaper blogs, social media, websites, etc.).
All entries must fall into the following categories:
3D Art – character or environment
2D Art (final illustration or concept art)

- Each candidate may submit up to a maximum of 2 projects
- Every entry should creatively exploit the theme of the exhibition whilst refraining from any reference to political or religious beliefs
- Entries will be evaluated by a committee set up specifically for this purpose. The 7 entries that will be selected from each category (14 in total) will be featured in the Athens Games Festival 2018. If a category fails to be filled, the remaining categories will be proportionally increased.

Deliverables
- Render preview at 75 877x1240 pixels. File name: render_preview
- 3 more renders from different angles (minimum analysis 877x1240 pixels, portrait or landscape). File name: render_01, render_02, render_03.
- Clay render with superimposed wireframe that will present the topology. File name: render_topology.
- One (1) turntable video 1920x1080 pixels (HD) or 1280x720xpixels (ΗD ready), 25 fps (PAL). Portrait for the character creation, landscape for the environments. File name: turntable.
- Each entry must include the name of the creator and the title of the project.
- A document (200 words max.) where the artist will present his/her concept, the aesthetic and technical elements of the design and the production. The doc may entail character concept art or image references.

Committee
Aris Tsevrenis
Aris Tsevrenis - Games developer, Terahard Studios
Aris started off as a Games Software Engineer. He worked in a number of acclaimed video game studios in London before founding his own video games production company, Terehard Ltd, in November 2012. Ever since then he has been the head of the company, which has steadily increased to 15 members and successfully completed over 70 projects in different platforms, including VR and AR, specialising in Unity. Last year, Aris won along with his team, their first Lumiere Award for best interactive VR experience.
Dimitri Kaliviotis
Dimitri Kaliviotis was born in Montreal, but spent most of his childhood years in Athens, Greece. At the age of 17, he returned to Montreal, where he completed his studies in the art of design, focusing his mind on designing and creating functional artworks. He spent the next decade working as a professional model maker, manufacturing miniatures, concept models, specialty props etc. for major Hollywood film productions (these include 300, Taking Lives, The Fountain, The Spiderwick Chronicles, The Mummy III and more.) In 2012 he put his knowledge and skills into practice by joining the SAE Creative Media College in Athens as a head instructor.
If time allows, he still creates models for video games, stop-motion animation and other audiovisual production formats.
Angelos Rouvas
Angelos Rouvas - Film director, concept artist, researcher
When it comes to animation, Angelos is self-taught. In 1988, he established the animation department of ERT (Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation), where he produced 70 short film projects during a two-year period.
Some of his projects include:
- An American Tail Fievel Goes West (1990-91): Animator for the full-length feature film produced by Stephen Spielberg
- Pandora & Plato - The Strawberry Birds(1993-96: He created all the main characters of the first Greek animation series
- Creation & production of 10 original projects for TV series and feature films with his company Big Bang Toons
- The Little Mouse who Wanted to Touch a Star:Angelos co-directed the Greek half-hour TV special in 3D animation for which he won five awards in Greek and international festivals.
- He collaborated for 25 years with Magikon production company in a series of small scale productions and commercials.
- Greek Cinema 1905-2005: Author of the a 2,000 page two-volume book about the history of the Greek cinema
- He is thefounder and creator of the webportal greekanimation.com (2014) and lead author of the 70 Years of Greek Animation (2016), a 220 pages celebratory anthology edition
- Mentor: his latest and highly ambitious film project, is currently in production.
George Thanos
George Thanos is the coordinator of the Animation field at the SAE Creative Media College. He is a member of the SAE Institute European Animation Society, responsible for designing and developing their programme of studies. He is also the head professor in the College's BA/Bsc (Hons) Game Art Animation department. At the same time, he works as a New Media designer and CG artist, specialising in Virtual Reality representations via either 3D models or 360˚ panoramas. He is well established in the international Video Games industry and he has participated in several Game Development teams across the globe. He has a formal education in Music, 3D Animation and Photography, while also holding a Cultural Heritage master's degree from the University of Middlesex.
Dimitris Koutsomitsos
Dimitris Koutsomitsos
Dimitris is the founder and CEO of the indie game studio Tamasenco Ltd, which is operating since 2012. From 2016 he serves as coordinator and a member of the Board a Directors of Corallia's gi-Cluster, the Gaming and Creative Technologies & Applications Cluster of Corallia Clusters Initiative. In 2015 his company was awarded for its impact on the entertainment and creative technologies industry in Greece, based on the corresponding productivity and innovation industry indexes; as a result Dimitris earned a spot in Fortune Magazine's ''40 under 40'' list of the most influential young people in business. Until this day Tamasenco has created and published 6 games. In the last couple of years the company has shifted their focus towards mobile games in a strategic attempt to evolve and become highly competitive internationally. With his game Wild West Saga Dimitris has earned yet another distinction at EBGE Awards (Greek Design & Illustration Awards) in the 'applications' category, and he is now aspiring for it to reach over 1 million players
